Relationship is at the centre of discipleship. It is the pipeline through which we share our experiences with others and through which others desire to learn. Ultimately it is also through relationship with our Father God that we also develop as Christians and we become more like Christ. Because of this, building relationships is fundamental to the experience at Life Centre Youth, for youth both with their friends and with their leaders.

While providing an enjoyable time and experience is significant and certainly something that we strive to achieve at LCY, it comes second to building relationships as the channel through which we make disciples of Jesus. Therefore, both Friday Nights and Youth Sundays, we create fun, safe environment to build relationships but also focus on God’s Word in large group and small group discussions.

GUIDELINES:

• Age:  Both Youth Programs (Events/Sundays) will be available for Grades 7-12 only 

• Time: Friday nights 7-9 pm; Sundays 9:30 am (youth exit service after the first worship set in the same way Life Kids would)

• Registrations + Sign in/out: Parents must register all children for 2024.

  • Each youth must be signed in and out at each program (Sundays/Friday nights)). Only registered youth will be able to attend these.

• Costs: There will be a small cost to each Friday Night Event to help cover expenses.

• NO PHONE Policy. The goal of our Friday Night Events is connection. Phones are one of the most significant obstacles to youth connecting. Additionally, phones allow the ability to take photos without permission. Considering these, we have decided that phones will be collected at the beginning of each Friday Night Event and returned upon pick up.

VALUES: 

Below are some factors we believe to be important.

• Discipleship is the end game. Weekend events and Sunday programs should supplement the goal of making disciples, not be an end in themselves.

• Transition into the broader church community is paramount. We want to help youth find a sense of belonging in the church, not create a siloed ministry.

• Relationships of trust are essential. Trust takes time to establish but is critical to discipline our youth.

APPROACH: Two-Dimensional Ministry - Friday Nights/Sundays:

There are two dimensions to Youth, each with a slightly different emphasis. Together they provide

• Fridays: Create a fun, safe environment to build relationships with each other, the leaders and God.

• Sundays: Create a space for deeper conversations around biblical discipleship content.
